TQL’s Broad Experience in Truckload Transportation

Our roots are in produce shipments, yet over the years our expertise in transporting various commodities has expanded. Today, we ship everything from steel and lumber, to paper and plastic materials, fresh chicken and frozen foods. Our internal carrier database includes more than 40,000 carrier companies, with virtually all equipment types and various fleet sizes.

While the majority of our loads are transported on reefers, vans and flatbeds, we do record carriers’ equipment, authority and insurance limits so we can easily cover loads of high value or those requiring specialized equipment. We regularly arrange loads traveling into Canada and have relationships with cross-docking facilities, should they be needed.

During our training process, we use this broad commodity experience to teach our Logistics Account Executives a general framework for proper carrier selection, monitoring and client support that can be applied to all types of truckload shipments. We then encourage them to build a client base that matches their interest: different types of commodities and lanes, or an in-depth focus on one niche industry.

Logistics Account Executives who demonstrate expertise in certain types of freight are known internally as "subject matter experts." They share their knowledge company-wide by offering guidance and advice to less experienced brokers and teaching some of our advanced logistics seminars. The end goal is to provide each employee with the skills needed to be a well-rounded resource for their clients, capable of moving any type of shipment requested.
